Description (English)
In Behen Hogi Teri, Rajkummar Rao plays a man without a plan as he is unable to express his love to his childhood sweetheart because of the rigid rules imposed by the elders of his neighbourhood.
The primary theme of the film revolves around the rule of how every boy in the area is forced to see every unmarried girl as a sister.
If the boy refuses, he is forcibly tied rakhi by the girl (not so reluctantly), to which he is refusing to follow the rule.
Rao’s character is fortunate in that the girl he is dating (played by an overzealous Shruti Haasan) has shown feelings for him.
Director Ajay Pannalal runs the story like a romantic comedy but the final product is presented like a drama which gets spoiled midway.
A frank introduction is followed by a gag, featuring unnecessary additions by the players (Gulshan Grover and Ranjit) and a predictable climax.
Rao’s character also loses himself and is pushed to the curb by these unnecessary characters. Hence, Behen Hogi Teri is an average combination of all the romantic comedies we have seen in Bollywood in the past few months, with the only exception of a decent lover and a symbolic message. TN.
Behen Hogi Teri had the potential to be a good comedy, but a good idea gets pulled off and ends up boring, especially when you know that the hero and heroine will definitely unite.
The film is based in an area of UP where all boys and girls are considered as brothers and sisters since childhood.
But as they grow up the feelings change n then it is too late to prove that their love is of a different kind.
Rajkummar Rao is great in a lighter role (after serious things like Trapped n Aligarh), but he can’t salvage the bad second half.
The female characters are shown as dumb and do not contribute anything to the story. Rating 1.5/5.
The film starts off in a good way and was going smoothly.
But suddenly in the end it gradually became monotonous and boring.
Music is also a drawback of this film.
The story was not convincing at all.
The transitions between the dialogues sounded off as if they were not really connected but the directors (or writers) forced the dialogues to appear connected. Rajkummar Rao’s performance was good but every other actor really over-acted.
The story was predictable and very drawn out for no reason, the directors (or producers) didn’t really think while making the film that they just wanted to make a film whether it was good or not.
Not worth the time at all, in my opinion, this movie could easily be missed.
The movie is sweet, clean and entertaining with no vulgar jokes… and coming to the critics they know nothing about public opinion, they only like shoddy movies like Happy New Years with so called popular actors.
Will give review… Gattu is coming in love with rabbit since childhood but everyone in that area believe that all girls and boys are like brother and sister how Gattu withdraws his love in all kinds of illusions hai story is with lots of funny moments….music hai ok tera hoke rahoon melodious hai and other songs r ok… Talking about the performances, we all know that Rajkummar Rao is a brilliant actor and he is the soul of the film.
She shines in her role with superb comic timing…Shruti Haasan looks beautiful and gives good support…Heri Tangri and Darshan Jariwala are excellent with their witty performances…All other actors are fine.
With many serious upcoming films in Bollywood, this film is like a breeze of fresh air with a lovely, funny and heartwarming story… must see forget t critics and the person who wrote the review in front of me.
Really man…. Great job. I only watch Rajkummar Rao movies because every film of his is worth watching and original.
As such, his performance, energy and personality are perfect for the story in the film.
Talking about Shruti, its equal to Rajkumar. Both the boys put on a strong and brilliant performance.
I can’t say just about the acting and the performance… Great-Great-Great Story We should definitely be watching Family Watchable Comedy Strategy Romance Movies Everything you need to watch is theirs The Just Flop and the low ratings Not worth it but it is the mentality of bollywood audience which is driven by bollywood stars overall movie is absolutely great and must watch atleast 7/10
I think this movie could have been great but the ending and average music let it down, everyone acted brilliantly, especially Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Haasan (she looked absolutely amazing btw).
I didn’t like the ending, the way everything was being built, all the mess that was being created, I expected the ending to be a little more dramatic, however, the speech at the end was good but at first it was a little more Need rayta-failao tbh.
I think this movie and Bareilly Ki Barfi are the 2 best movies of 2017 imho, but both lacked good music which could have made a big difference.
Actually, I liked Rajkumar Rao’s acting more than the film.
Because, the beginning is good but gradually when the end comes it becomes even more boring but, I loved the climax scene in which Rajkummar Rao utters his dialogues.
Had the story not been so accurate, it could have been more interesting.
But, overall I have given 3/5 rating as I have liked the story and concept of this film.
There are comedy scenes in the film but somewhere it was not as special as expected.
Would love to see more movies of Rajkumar Rao and the next part of this movie.
