Thought to have made several films on the subject of human trafficking and prostitution, “Love Sonia” makes a top spot among such films for its in-depth research and detailed presentation aided by some fine acting performances. Though it is a delicate subject, it was handled and put together very well by director Tabrez Noorani to create much needed awareness on the taboo subject.
The film is excellent in its script to deliver a heart-wrenching story in the minds of the audience, which is given a very good and honest performance by the lead actress Murnal Thakur. There have been some excellent performances by supporting actors as Manoj Bajpayee, Adil Hussain, Richa Chadha and Freida Pinto. The cinematography is good but Luv Sonia really excels in her production design, costume and make-up. The direction is top class and very professional.
Overall, Love Sonia is a much talked about film for an audience mature to understand the nuances of human trafficking and prostitution. The movie has some sexually explicit scenes that may not suit young teen audiences, but it is a must watch for 16+ to understand the dangers of living in the big bad world out there. Seeing Love Sonia will awaken the human side within us. Two thumbs up for the boldness on display.
It is a very true and inspiring film about trafficking of girls and young women in prostitution rackets, which is very synergy.
‘Love Sonia’ is disturbing and well crafted.
There is a scene towards the end in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk where a blind man greets the retreating British soldiers. A soldier surprised by his gesture wonders, “All we did was survived.” To which the blind says, “It’s done.”
Love Sonia embraces this human spirit of a teenage girl who endures unimaginable cruelties and still dares to live. Sometimes, when you have no choice, surviving is the biggest victory.
Love Sonia is a very good movie. It strikes all the right chords within you and makes you feel for the leading lady. Every scene is pitch perfect. The theme here is how girls are forced into prostitution and they never come out of it. Even if they manage to run, they return to prosthes. Due to addiction and lifestyle. Mrunal Thakur’s acting was very good. Same is the case with the rest of the artists. The brothel scenes in Mumbai were horrifying. Overall this is a must see and seen to realize the evils of our society and no one really dare to eradicate it.
Love Sonia is a bitter truth. This is the need of our time.
This movie tells a lot that the decisions we make in our lives can be influenced by anything, changing the course of life for someone else, who may or may not be related to you in any way. Could be too.
The story is brilliantly crafted through multiple possibilities. You could be a millionaire living in Los Angeles or Hong Kong, or you could be a poor Indian farmer who wants to die because of the widespread drought in Maharashtra. Human beings have many needs and the film projects that a human being will do anything to survive, and beyond that to satisfy his splendid needs.
Cinema can teach you a lot, and that’s when so many great performances come together that give you something to think about, some shake you from your core, and some inspire you to do something.
This is my first review on IMDb, I am writing this because it inspired me to do this, every year hundreds of movies are being realized in Bollywood, but they are not recognized.
Love Sonia!! is one of them.
This is the true story of 2 village girls trapped in human trafficking beautifully defined on white canvas. Every character has been chosen even for a small role and has done justice to it.
The film itself is a blockbuster in its genre.
The dark side of sex-trafficking depicted in this film sinks into your heart. It really shook me from inside! The acting, the casting, the script and the story in the film are all great! Emotions are handled very well and the pace is good. Must see the beautiful masterpiece of Indian cinema! Just watch it without thinking!

इस फिल्म में दिखाया गया यौन-तस्करी का स्याह पक्ष आपके दिल में उतरता है। इसने मुझे सचमुच अंदर से झकझोर कर रख दिया! फिल्म में अभिनय, कास्टिंग, स्क्रिप्ट और कहानी आदि सब कुछ बेहतरीन है! भावनाओं को बहुत अच्छी तरह से संभाला जाता है और गति अच्छी होती है। भारतीय सिनेमा की खूबसूरत कृति अवश्य देखें! बस इसे बिना सोचे समझे देखें!
